Scottie SchefflerThe attitude is not changing. He has no response to the reunification of golf, but he knows who can – or at least who thinks MUST.
On Wednesday, during his press conference in front of the tournament in Charles Charles SchwabWorld no. 1 was asked if he knew where things stood with the negotiations between PGA Tour and PIF to bring the best players of the game again regularly.
He offered a message similar to what he has delivered in the past.
“I really don’t know. That’s for the highest to decide,” said Scheffler, who won his third major title in PGA Championship on Sunday. “I’ve said it several times this year. If you want to understand what will happen in the golf game, go to the next tour and ask those boys.”
Scheffler offered similar feedback on the player championship last year. The PGA Tour and Saudi Public Investment Fund agreed on a framework agreement in June 2023 to bring the tournament and Golf Liv funded by PIs together, but a final agreement, which was initially given a deadline of December 31, 2023, has not been reached.
“If the fans are upset, then look at the guys who are left,” Scheffler told the players of 2024. “We had a tour, we were all together and the people who left are no longer here. At the end of the day, here comes the split.”
Last week’s PGA championship was one of the rare times when Scheffler and other PGA Tour members will play against the benefits they signed with Liv Golf. Liv players are still banned from regular PGA Tour events.
Livit stars Jon Rahm and Bryson Dechambeau were among those who fight with sccheffler down the stretch for the Wanamaker trophy Rahm crashed And Scheffler was late late in the back nine to win with five strokes.
On Wednesday, Scheffler reiterated that it is for players like Rahm and Dechambeau to bring the best of the game together on a tour.
“I’m still here playing PGA Tour. We had a tour where we all played together, and the boys who left, it’s their responsibility, I think, to bring the tournaments again,” Scheffler said. “Go to see where they are playing this week and ask them.”
In March this year, Scheffler said he holds no “sick will” against any of the players who left PGA Tour for Liv.
“If we want to figure out why the golf game isn’t again together, go ask those guys,” He said in a media call before the master. “Go wherever they are playing this week and understand when the game will come back together.”
