Scottie Scheffler shot the day at Royal Portrush and now has a two -shot advantage going on the open championship weekend, though he spent a considerable time after his Friday Friday was interrupted in a rules situation in which one of his partners playing, Shane Lowry, found himself inside.
Lowry, Royal Portrush defensive champion, prepared to hit his second goal in the 12th 12th hole Friday and received a practical pace. He performed the bar near his ball and, the reproduction later showed, moved immediately after that.
“It almost looked like this ball moved as he got a slide here,” NBC commentator Dan Hicks said. “You can see that there is a lot of moisture – yes, it moved. He oscilled again.”
R&A rules official Charlie Maran later added, “If it is considered that he made this ball move, then there will be a penalty.”
Lowry did not know that any of this was happening until he reached the 15th 15th hole when he was walking on the street and an R&D official informed him of the possible violation. He said they would review him together after his round.
In short, if Lowry was not blamed for moving his ball, there would be no penalty. If he was, there were two blows.
“I was there with the official rules and I was not arguing my case, but I am disappointed that they no longer have the corners of the camera in it,” Lowry said afterwards. “He enlarged in slow motion, they are trying to tell me if he doesn’t move out of the free eye, if you don’t see him moving, he didn’t move. I told them I was definitely looking down the ball as I was getting that shaky practice, and I didn’t see him moving.
“But I had to receive the punishment because, to be honest, whether he or not, but I had to receive the sentence because I can’t have my name to speak or jump like that, and I just continue with it.”
What Lowry is referring to is the sliding slope with a ruling like this. If he did not think he made the ball move and argue a lot in his favor, critics could say he was trying to bow down the rules. He later added, “I think they made their decision.”
“If the ball was moving and I made it move and it moved it is a two -stroke penalty,” Lowry said. “The last thing I want to do is sit there and argue and not take a penalty and then slaughter on all social media tonight to be a trick.”
The sentence changed 5 to Lowry to a 7 in 12, giving it one and 72 per day. At the same time, he is 10 shots behind Scheffler.
Scheffler and Collin Morikawa, Lowry’s game partners, were part of the review. That trio stayed in the marking for a while before they left and talk to the media.
“After all, in Golf belongs to the player, and I felt like Shane was put in a very difficult situation there when they were zooming in his golf ball,” said Scheffler, 64 of which was the low round of the day. “In the rough, it’s hard to say. From what I briefly seen in the video, it seemed like it was very difficult to see if the ball was moving, if the ball was moving. The camera was a kind of magnification while things were happening.
“One of the most excellent things about golf game is that you call your own sentences for yourself. This situation, I think it was a very harsh place to entered. He treated it really well. Golf is someone who is not in mind.
Scheffler, at 10 under, has a lead with a kick over Matt Fitzpatrick and is two clear from Brian Harman AND 大全. Five others are in five under.
Lowry, after his two-stroke sentence, is tied to the 34th.
“Obvious is definitely very disappointing,” Lowry said. “I felt like playing really, really good today. And yes, it’s hard to get. Look. I just will have to make dust and go out there tomorrow and give it a move.”
