We have pretty definite plans for how we want to have fun with it – Scott Boland
Scott Boland said that Virat Kohli tends to leave many deliveries early but he wants to play the ball once he settles down at the crease. Boland noted that they adjusted their lines to the fifth stump after Kohli settled in, adding that it has been effective so far in this series.
“We’ve got a pretty set plan on how we want to bat with him. He feels like he leaves a lot and then he wants to bowl as soon as he comes in. So as soon as he comes in, we just want to change. Our lines are a bit of fifth stump and he it’s working right now,” Boland told Fox Cricket of Australia’s success against Kohli this season.
Virat Kohli could have been dismissed for a golden duck at Scott Boland
Virat Kohli could have been dismissed on his first ball when the third umpire did not rule out a catch as the ball appeared to have touched the ground. He was finally caught brilliantly by Beau Webster at third slip off the bowling of Scott Boland.
The pressure from Australia’s bowling was too much for Kohli, who edged the ball away from his body and stayed in the cordon. It was Boland’s fourth dismissal of Kohli in Tests. Boland lifted Yashasvi Jaiswal’s goal (10), Rishabh pants (40) and Nitish Kumar (0) in the first innings.
His natural angle makes it really difficult for righties – Beau Webster
Australian debutant all-rounder Bo Webster praised Scott Boland for his ruthless bowling style. Webster highlighted Boland’s ability to find goals regardless of the conditions. He also noted that Boland’s consistency with his line and length make him especially difficult for right-handers.
“If there’s something in the door, he finds it, and if there’s nothing in the door, he still manages to find a way,” Webster said. “He’s relentless. You think it’s his line and his length and his natural angle makes it very difficult for righties, but when we see him go through the door to lefties, it’s impressive.”
