- Devin Haney
- Gervonta Davis
- Shakur Stevenson
- Abdullah Mason
Of the four, the one that Floyd Sr. wants most for his son, Schofield Jr., Tank, Haney and Shakur. He considers them more important than Abdullah and says he does not believe they will be much longer.
Haney and Shakur aren’t going anywhere, but their careers could take a nosedive if they face riskier opposition that they’ve so far avoided. A move to those types of fights could be disastrous, similar to what we saw in Haney’s loss to Ryan Garcia.
In Shakur’s case, many fighters at 135 and 140 would all be wrong for his career. He had a hard time getting past William Zepeda and Edwin De Los Santos.
“We called them all, we want them Four horsemen. They’re great, so we can take the torch from them, then we’ll fight Mason and the rest of them that come up,” Floyd Schofield Sr. MillCity Boxing about him wanting his son, ‘Kid Austin’, to take the torch from ‘The Big Four’.
There is little chance that Schofield will get a shot at WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. He was selective with the opposition he faced during his career. With his hand speed and power, Schofield doesn’t fit the mold of the fighters Tank Davis typically fought as a pro.
Of course, if Turki Alalshikh offers Tank an enormous purse to fight Schofield, that’s different. That scenario seems unlikely, as there are more popular fighters that would make more attractive options for Turki to match Tank with. Shakur is one of them.
“We want all of them. For ‘Kid’ (Schofield Jr.) to be the greatest of all time, he has to fight all the greats of this time. We want ‘Tank’ because he’s going to retire soon, and he’s one of the greats. We want Shakur. We want Mason, but he’s got some growing to do,” Schofield said.
‘Kid Austin’ may have scared “The Four Horsemen” away with his recent first round knockout victory over Tevin Farmer on June 28, 2025. After that performance, Schofield’s chances of landing any of the four he wants may be downhill.
“These other guys are about to leave. We wanted Devin. We’ve been calling him since he was at 135.”
It’s hard to see any of the top names for Schofield Jr. give a chance to take the torch from them. He will likely be invisible to them, along with talents like Andy Cruz and Ernesto Mercado.
