Schofield pulls out hurt, fans spark Shakur conspiracy

Floyd Schofield Jr. pulled out of his November 8, 2025 co-fight with Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz due to a sprained wrist that will sideline him for 3-6 weeks. It is a brutal hit for the event on November 8th on DAZN.

DAZN map takes an early hit

Unbeaten, highly-rated lightweight contender Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs) was scheduled to face former IBF super featherweight champion ‘JoJo’ Diaz (34-8-1, 15 KOs) in a Golden Boy-promoted event. on DAZN on the Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin event at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Schofield’s history of late withdrawals

Fans on social media jokingly blame it on Shakur Stevenson, sneaking into Schofield’s room late at night and twisting his wrist to cause the injury. Earlier this year, Schofield was scheduled to challenge Shakur for his WBC lightweight title on February 22, but withdrew on February 18 due to illness.

There was much conjecture as to how the dangerous puncher Schofield could fall ill so close to the fight. Some fans suspected foul play and believed he had been poisoned.

The Spit Bucket Podcast @TSBBoxing broke the news earlier today of ‘Kid’ Austin’ Schofield’s sprained wrist.

It’s not a significant loss for the November 8 card, as Schofield vs. Diaz was considered a total mismatch. Losing Schofield from the card is more about fans not being able to see the talented 23-year-old fighter in action in a showcase than about a fight that was considered competitive.

It was a step down in competition for Schofield from his previous fight against Tevin Farmer on June 28, 2025. ‘Kid Austin’ knocked out Farmer in the first round of a scheduled 10-round contest.

‘JoJo’ Diaz, 32, has lost seven of his last night fights (2-7 record) since 2021. He is a textbook example of how a fighter can suddenly go downhill after a tough loss. In his case, he was beaten in 12-round decisions against Devin Haney and William Zepeda in 2021 and 2022. Diaz has yet to regain the former.
