If you like watching the pros make birdies, this is a great week for you to tune in, because red numbers abound in Mexico. Case in point: the current leader, 27-year-old German Matti Schmid, is free and has notched 15 birdies and an eagle in 36 holes.

Schmid leads the field by one stroke at 17 under par. He is two rounds away from his first PGA Tour victory. Just one shot behind him: Finland’s Sami Valimaki, who is also looking for his first win, and Nick Dunlapwho is looking for his third win, but first since the 2024 Barracuda Championship.
