26-year-old Indian National Cricket Team middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan recently recalled a memorable night when modern-day great Virat Kohli bowed out to him in a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) game.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru locked horns with Rajasthan Royals in match 29 of the Indian Premier League 2015 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on April 29.
Kohli went for 1 in that match but Sarfaraz Khan played an amazing innings and scored 45 runs off 21 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. Sarfaraz was at his uncharacteristic best when batting and seemed to impress his then captain Virat Kohli with a batting masterclass.
As Sarfaraz left the ground after his heroics against Rajasthan Royals, Virat Kohli looked delighted and bowed to him in appreciation.
Talking about the memorable moment, Sarfaraz Khan said that he enjoyed the night a lot and wished to share the Indian dressing room with Kohli.
“I met him for the first time at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. I scored 45 runs in 21 balls there and he bowed to me. I had a lot of fun that day. It was my dream to share the Indian dressing room with him. If I get a chance, it will come true in the future,” – he added.
Notably, Sarfaraz Khan’s dream of sharing the Indian dressing room with Virat Kohli could have come true during the England game earlier this year, but Kohli pulled out of the entire series due to the birth of his second child. However, they will soon share the dressing room during the Bangladesh Test series.
It should be noted that in the five-match Test series with England, Sarfaraz Khan had the opportunity to make his Test debut. He batted with aggressive intent and smashed three half-centuries for the side. In total, he played 3 Tests in his career and scored 200 runs at an average of 50.

Virat Kohli’s passion and spirit is unmatched – Sarfaraz Khan
Sarfaraz further said that Kohli is a very passionate player and his spirit is unmatched.
“His (Virat Kohli’s) passion and spirit is unmatched. Whenever I see him, even in pre-match meetings, he takes responsibility and tells everyone how many runs he is going to score from a particular bowler and distributes it to everyone. . Stands up in front of everyone to be brave enough to speak so positively and deliver the next day is a very unique ability,” Sarfaraz told Jio Cinema.
The young batsman added that Virat Kohli is very clear about his game and doesn’t care about any criticism or praise that comes his way.
“He is clear in his game. He knows the work a player has to continue to do and he knows that criticism or praise should not affect your game. ‘This is my job, I have to do this in the morning, this in the afternoon, this in the evening and sleep at a certain time.’ This is what I learned from him,” he concluded.
