Sarah Roberts runs age 75 world best 44:33 over 10km

The Brit sets a stunning time at the 10km in Hertfordshire, beating the previous British W75 10km record by five minutes.

STANDALONE 10km, Letchworth, Hertfordshire, October 6

Sarah Roberts made even more history by running a world best 10km of 44:33 at the age of 75.

The Briton who ran the time on Sunday did so on her 75th birthday and knocked more than five minutes off the previous British W75 10km record of 49:41.

Amazingly, it was a personal best for Roberts and much faster than last year’s 47:12.

Roberts, who is the reigning W70 champion in the 800m, 1500m and 5000m, also went faster than the British M75 athlete’s best time of 44:38 this year.

For context, its time per kilometer was 4:27, which is faster than the W75’s world record 3000m of 4:31.

In the main solo 10km race, Annabelle Gummow won in a record 34:25.
