Pakistan National Cricket Team again faced management problems. On Monday (October 28), Gary Kirsten, who was recently appointed as the team’s head coach, resigned from the post in a shock to many.
Gary Kirsten’s resignation has been accepted Pakistan Cricket Board immediately, and then they appointed a temporary coach. Jason Gillespie, the team’s red ball coach, will be the team’s head coach for the white ball tour to Australia and Zimbabwe.
However, this did not stop the Pakistan Cricket Board from searching for a new head coach for white ball cricket. According to various reports in the Pakistani media, it is learned that the board does not want to bring any foreign coach. The board wants a local name in the coaching set-up.
Saqlain Mushtaq has emerged as a strong candidate to fill this position
Reports claimed that former Pakistan National Cricket Team spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has emerged as a strong candidate to take over the post. It was learned that the captain of the white ball, Mohammad Rizwan, expressed his support for him to perform this task and that the captain can play a big role in this.
Saqlain Mushtaq currently serves as a mentor to the PCB and his previous success with the white ball team has made him a strong contender. He also served as director of PCB’s High Performance Center for International Player Development. And there is a high chance that he will get a role.
Aaqib Javed is another candidate for the position of head coach of the team
Not only Saqlain Mushtaq, but Aaqib Javed is also seen as another candidate for the post of head coach of the team. The former football player of the team also stated that he wanted to be the head coach of the team, but he demanded full authority from the team.
Aaqib Javed had earlier received many offers from the team to become the team’s bowling coach. He declined and expressed his preference for a more inclusive leadership position. However, it was not accepted by the Pakistan Cricket Board, but with the existing posts, chances are high.
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi will take the final decision on the appointment of the permanent white-ball team coach.
Aaqib Javed has enough coaching experience for the team. He was a member of “Lahore Qalandars” in the Pakistan Super League. Javed was recently the bowling coach of the Sri Lankan national team. He is currently the selector of the team and was given a lot of credit after Pakistan won the Test series against England.
Reports claimed that Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi will take the final decision on the appointment of the permanent white-ball team coach after consulting all key stakeholders. It is still unclear who will take over the position in the team.
