29 years old Indian National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson won the Man of the Match award for his spectacular batting display in the third T20I against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad hosted the third and final T20I of India 2024 Bangladesh tour. India cruised to a 133-run victory in the match to register a clean sweep over the Bangla Tigers.
Sanju Samson Hits Cruel Face
Sanju Samson emerged as the man of the match as he played the best knock of his T20I career. Samson silenced the critics and showed the great talent he possesses.
The wicketkeeper-batsman started aggressively and even smashed Bangladeshi bowler Taskin Ahmed for four consecutive fours. It didn’t stop there as he smashed Rishad Hossain for 5 sixes to join the elite list of Indians to score 30 or more runs in a T20I.
Sanju Samson completed his fifty off 22 balls and he was on pace to reach the century milestone by hitting his ton in 40 balls. It was the second fastest T20I century by an Indian batsman. Samson also became the first Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to score a century in T20I cricket.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Sanju Samson said the players in the dressing room were happy to see him score a big goal. He said:
“The energy in the locker room and the guys are really happy for me. I’m really happy. They’re happy that I’m doing well.”
Sanju Samson also talked about dealing with setbacks and pressures. He said that he had many setbacks in his career and learned to cope with everything through experience. He elaborated:
“Knowing what you can do out there and how I batted, I thought I could have done better. Those thoughts keep coming through your head. With a lot of experience and a lot of games I’ve played. , I know how to deal with pressure and setbacks, so my mind I know how to manage accordingly.
“I tell myself that I just have to focus on the process, keep training, keep believing in myself and one day it will come soon. When you play for your country, you come under a lot of pressure. There was that pressure, I wanted to perform and show what I can do . I reminded myself to keep it as simple as possible, focus on one ball at a time and keep playing my shots.”

Sanju Samson later thanked the team management for supporting him and expressed doubts about India’s selection after the debacle in the Sri Lanka tour. He also talked about hitting 5 sixes in the over. Sanju Samson said:
“The dressing room and the leadership team that we have tell me that I know what kind of talent you have and we support you no matter what.”
“I got two ducks in the last series and came back to Kerala thinking ‘kya hoga bhai’, but they supported me in this series and I’m very happy that I gave something to smile about for my captain and coach.
