Sanjay Manjrekar urges Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to play county cricket ahead of England tour

But if both Rohit and Virat intend to continue and the selectors want to back them, I would like to see both of them play county cricket and convince people that they are ready for the big challenge. Retirement is up to the individual, leaving people out is up to voters“, Manjrekar said while talking to Star Sports.

Underperforming stars: Kohli and Rohit fail to deliver

Kohli and Rohit were expected to lead the charge in this crucial series, especially with India’s bid to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship 2025 final. Kohli’s century in the first Test in Perth gave Indian fans hope as he seemed to have regained some form. But after that, his performance declined sharply. In the remaining four matches, Kohli managed just 85 runs, amassing a total of 190 runs in the series, far from his usual standards. Similarly, Rohit’s performance was poor. The fact that the Indian captain played just three matches, scoring a paltry 31 runs, added to the frustration of fans and analysts alike.
