Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar spoke about Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the second innings of the ongoing first Test. Bangladesh National Cricket Team. He said his batter wanted to keep the reviews and didn’t know he was setting it aside.
Virat Kohli suffered an unusual dismissal in the second innings of the first Test against Bangladesh. The right-hander had only himself to blame as he had a chance to save his wicket by taking a DRS but failed to do so as he returned to the pavilion just before stumps on Day 2.
Virat Kohli went in to bat when Yashasvi Jaiswal lost the wicket for 10 runs. The Indian top-order batsman looked at ease at the crease right from the start as he corrected the mistake he made in the first innings. The fielder left the balls well enough on the outside and defended the ball solidly.
Virat Kohli looked set for a massive knock before Mehidy was trapped lbw by Hasan Miraz. The off-spinner bowled a full ball and the Indian batsman tried to play it on the side and it looks like he was beaten on the inside edge when the ball hit the front pad adjacent to the off-stump.
He looked plumb from the start and the referee raised his finger. Shubman Gill, at the non-striker’s end, told Virat Kohli to take a look, but the big bowler disagreed. He returned to the pavilion with his head down, very disappointed, especially with the way he had gone for 27 runs.
When it went up, the ultra edge showed a large spas the ball goes off the bat. Virat Kohli had no idea that he had hit the ball and when it was shown on the big screen later, the crowd and members of the Indian team looked disappointed.
Sanjay Manjrekar sympathized with Virat Kohli, saying he thought the batsman was not hitting the ball. He believes that the great mortician wanted to keep the feedback for his team, and therefore did not accept it, even though Shubman Gill encouraged him. He made a statement on his Twitter account:
“I felt bad for Virat today. He obviously didn’t think he was batting. He just wanted to know from Gill if the ball hit the stumps. Anyway Gill encouraged him to go for a check, but he walked away dejected. 3 points for his team.”

He is just a strong bowler with zero weaknesses – Sanjay Manjrekar on Jasprit Bumrah
Sanjay Manjrekar also heaped praise on Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. While hailing the pacer as a champion bowler, he pointed out that the pacer is a bowler with zero weaknesses. He elaborated:
“Is there anything else to say about Bumrah as a champion bowler? Well, I realized today that he is just a strong bowler with zero weaknesses. Guess that’s the main criteria for greatness.”
Is there more to say about Bumrah as a champion bowler?
Well, I realized today that he is a bowler with strengths and no weaknesses. Imagine, this is the main criterion for greatness.#Bumrah— Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) September 20, 2024
Jasprit Bumrah was the main architect of India who bundled out the Bangladesh National Cricket Team for just 149 runs in the first innings. He picked four wickets and returned with figures of 4/50 with 11 wickets.
