Sanjay Manjrekar sensationally orders BCCI to sideline Rohit Sharma’s Virat Kohli


Former Indian National Cricket Team player Sanjay Manjrekar has come up with a big offer related to BCCI. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He said the governing body should not listen to the already well-rested players just because they are big names in Indian cricket.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have come under massive scrutiny after their poor performances in Tests series Against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. Before the home Test season, there were questions about them not playing the Duleep Trophy.

Rohit and Kohli played in the ODI series against Sri Lanka before the Test series against Bangladesh and then directly played the Tests. While most of the players participated in the Duleep Trophy, the duo did not as they were rested.

Some reports have surfaced that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have opted out of playing in the Duleep Trophy due to “lack of motivation”. It is learned that the BCCI has indicated that after the T20 World Cup 2024, all players should be available for domestic games.

According to reports, Kohli and Sharma had initially agreed and were expected to play at least one game. But at the last minute, the top players later withdrew their names and decided to go without training for the Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

The lack of experience was quite evident as both Rohit and Kohli struggled during the Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. This saw them face many challenges and even questions about their location.

Their performances were overlooked in the Bangladesh series as the team went on to win the series, but both came under scrutiny after the New Zealand series. This was because the Indian National Cricket Team lost the series 3-0 and also lost important points in the World Test Championship.

Faced with India’s Test series defeat against New Zealand, Sanjay Manjrekar believes the biggest learning for selectors after this home season is not to rest big names. He added that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will benefit from playing the Duleep Trophy. He made a statement on his Twitter account:

“The big learning for selectors from this home season is not to rest players who are already well-rested because of their height; I’ll say it again: both Rohit and Virat could only have benefited from playing the Duleep Trophy at the start of the season.”

In six innings against New Zealand, Virat Kohli averaged 15.50 and scored a total of 93 runs, while Rohit scored 91 runs at 15.16. Overall in the home season they have scored 192 and 133 runs respectively in 5 games.

As India now prepare to face Australia in the five-match Test series, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are looking to make an impact. The series will be extremely important for them in the context of their future in the Test team.
