Australian key Constas himself announced his arrival in Test cricket with a bang. Constas played a lot of gutsy innings and was fearless on his Test debut. Not many would have predicted that he would get India’s best player jasprit bumrah about.
But the youngster was determined and fearless enough to display an aggressive batting style against the world’s best bowler. Steve Smith, the only centurion in this Test so far, recently spoke about watching Constas from the dugout.
While the 19-year-old was going fast, the Australian dressing room was enjoying his batting. As soon as he turned fifty, the dressing room rose to applaud the youngster.

Steve Smith talks about Sam Konstas’ extraordinary shots to Jasprit Bumrah
After the conclusion of the second day’s play, Steve Smith was asked at the press conference about Sam Constas’ innings on debut. Smith praised the young man’s self-confidence and claimed that he was not afraid of anything.
Smith also praised Constas for playing innings like reverse sticks from Jasprit Bumrah and claimed he had a heart attack while watching the footage in the dugout.
“As we saw yesterday, I don’t worry too much about the youngster. He reverse-ramped (Jasprit) Bumrah for a six and I had a heart attack in the box. But look, I thought everything was fine. No stress,” Smith told reporters.
Sam Konstas’ aggressive style against Jasprit Bumrah
Sam Constas attempted an unusual shot from India’s bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the third over of the match. But Bumrah couldn’t put any together as he responded with a smile.
However, this did not stop Konstas from attempting such shots. In Bumrah’s next over, he bowled it for a four and then smashed it for a six with a reverse scoop.
Those shots got Kontas going and he continued to hit more eye-catching shots. He even smashed Jasprit Bumrah over long-on for a six which shows his confidence and fearless attitude.
Meanwhile, Konstas was also involved in a physical altercation with Virat Kohli and both the players were seen shoulder to shoulder with each other. The ICC later found Kohli guilty of the incident and fined the former India captain.
Sam Constas gives Australia a strong start
Konstas smashed 60 off 65 balls and put on an excellent partnership of 89 runs with the opening wicket. Osman Khawaja. The openers laid a solid foundation for Australia as they put a huge total of 474 on the board. Steve Smith top scored for Australia with an excellent 140 off 197 balls.
Sam Konstas replaced Nathan McSweeney in this game after the latter’s disappointing scores in the first three Tests. series. McSweeney found himself struggling against Jasprit Bumrah with the new ball and had no answer.
