Jermaine Beckford believes Leeds United ace Sam Greenwood is not fit to play with Daniel Farke.
Greenwood was sent on loan to Preston after failing to impress Ange Postecoglou in the preseason.
He spent last season on loan at Middlesborough, where he scored 5 and assisted three in 38 games in all competitions. The club even considered activating the option to sign him on a permanent deal, but ultimately decided against it.
However, he has made a decent start to his loan spell at Preston this season. He has already matched his goal tally from last season, scoring 5 and assisting 1 in 15 games so far.
Beckford says Sam Greenwood is not a good fit for Daniel Farke’s Leeds United
talking Sky SportsBeckford explained why Greenwood is not a fit at Leeds, despite his impressive numbers for the Under-21s.
He said:
“He is a very creative player and his set pieces are fantastic. Its layout is really smart. While at Leeds, in PL2, the goals and assists, every game, were coming thick and fast, on a regular basis.
“He didn’t get the same opportunities at Leeds, he just wasn’t quite right. The pressure at Preston won’t be as much as at Leeds, the expectation won’t be as much as at Leeds United.”
It’s surprising that he hasn’t been able to make an impact with the first team, given his excellent performances for Leeds U21s.
In 43 games with the under-21s, he scored 22 goals and assisted 6 more. But in 35 games with the seniors he only managed to score 1 and assist 5. (Transfer market)
The 22-year-old has shown he has talent but has failed to impress the Leeds manager. However, a successful loan move to Preston could perhaps give him another chance next summer.
