Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has heaped praise on young cricketers Rachin Ravindra and Sarfaraz Khan after their impressive centuries in the Bengaluru Test match. Sachin Tendulkar took to his official social media account to congratulate Rachin Ravindra and Sarfaraz Khan for their heroics.

Sarfaraz Khan scored his maiden century in India’s second innings of the ongoing match. He played a decisive role in India’s batting on Friday, October 18. The batsman continued his sensational hitting on the fourth day. He received appreciation from fans, former cricketers and experts for his knock.

Sachin Tendulkar said that cricket has a unique ability to connect players with their roots. Sachin highlighted Ravindra’s connection to Bengaluru, where his family hails from. The former cricketer said that Sarfaraz scored his first international century when the team needed it the most.

“Cricket has a way of connecting us to our roots. Rachin Ravindra’s family has a special connection with Bengaluru, where he was born! Another century to his name. And Sarfaraz Khan, what an opportunity to get your maiden Test century when India needed it the most! Exciting days ahead for both these talented youngsters,” Tendulkar wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Rachin Ravindra became the first New Zealand batsman to score a Test century in India since 2012. He hit 134 off 157 balls, including 13 fours and four sixes, as New Zealand posted a total of 402 runs in the first innings. The visiting team took a huge lead of 356 runs after bowling India out for 46 runs.

Sarfaraz Khan showed his brilliance with his maiden Test hundred on the fourth day of the rain-affected match. New Zealand tried to create a battering problem in the second innings. India were 344-3 by the lunch break on Day 4. He was dismissed by Tim Southee after scoring 150 runs off 195 balls.

Veteran Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle praised Sarfaraz Khan’s century, calling it a “dream” performance. He said that this century reflects the remarkable journey of the middle class. Bhogle said he enjoyed watching Sarfaraz’s impressive batting in the ongoing match.

“Hundred that came out of his dreams. He is cheeky, rude, but very intelligent, and for Sarfaraz, this century is the result of an extraordinary life when he was still young. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it,” tweeted Harsha Bhogle.

The duo put on a 177-run stand for the fourth wicket on the fourth day. India are looking to post a mammoth total in their second innings against New Zealand, having last won a Test match in India in 1988. The Rohit Sharma-led team would like to bat till the end of the day and add as many runs as possible. .
