The longest reception in Golf is only a few hours left. Finally, we are approaching the first Shots of Ryder Cup in New York, and Golf.com The team has been getting in these last wonderful last hours.
There is still some time before the world’s best starts at Bethpage Black on Friday morning, but we have learned a lot during the opening days. With the opening ceremonies rose because of the rain in the forecast, we are doing the same with our first observations from the crew in the country.
James Colgan, the editor of news and features (@Jamescolgan26) :: Good gang, let’s start with an easy one: what is the most surprising thing you’ve learned during the first three days in Bethpage?
Sean Zak, elderly writer (@sean_zak) :: There is no connection with the players. I am more surprised how the ticket market was completely beaten and suddenly on Wednesday and on Thursday the round ticket practice was very accessible. As in just $ 40 when they were priced in the north of $ 200 to start. Not sure what it is but there is something wrong with that original, current price value You get as a fan in these round days, and what the market eventually crashed too. Someone in Golf.com will investigate.
Dylan Dothier, old writer (@dylan_Dethier)): I was surprised when I walked on the course and saw how harsh it is. I knew they would give it a good haircut. I knew that the American side considers it an advantage to limit the damage to a bad blow. But I am also used to Beethpage by serving a great style of the great championship, in the open style of the US in reality, the conditions that Colgan and Co. Dart-Fest introductory.
James: As a native of our crew, Long Islander, I am surprised to see (and heard) pearls on the crowd. Yes, the reception is that things will be loud and bold and maybe a little higher. But the suggestion that New Yorkers are somewhat infinitely worse than any other crowd of Ryder Cup hits me as a small Tropey. My culture is not a costume!
Speaking of costumes … Patrick Cantlay arrived in place with a suitable hat, and another Ryder Cup wage controversy (so far) is avoided. Instead, who or what do you think will become the biggest story of the tournament week?
Sean: This may be a long time, but it can become Rory’s week against Americans. There is already a wild anxiety between Mcilroy and Bryson Dechambeau. ‘It is a better thing is the best thing between Europe’s leader and Scottie Scheffler, World no. 1. There is a complicated relationship between Mcilroy and Patrick Cantlay. What about Mcilroy and Keegan Bradley, who lost a single match with Rory the last time he won on American soil? Add all this to the fact that Mcilroy expressed some controversial thoughts very publicly and even rolled out some of them and you get a character who has gained some anger in these parts. I look forward to seeing if she bubbles in a great way…
Dyman: If we were in Europe, the crowd at home would triple in money. This is already a great deal of conversation in the country, this idea that Americans are unsaturated individualists, and it has already dealt with its own life. I don’t think this scenario is somewhere close as bad as you would believe the euro – it’s a kind of folly that players shouldn’t Pay for this mega-spectacle, and from what we have heard, every American seems to donate most of their charity money-but why lose the opportunity to capture high moral ground against your opponents?
However, we are very not in Europe. So I would expect Rory, fans and at least an American of chippy will result in another fun.
stud: We know from the cover of this event every two years that someone Will emerge as a hero of Ryder Cup over the next five days. In Rome was Ludwig Aberg. In the whistle, Scottie Scheffler and Bryson Dechambeau.
Among the five rookies – JJ Spaun, Ben Griffin, Russell Henley, Cam Young and Rasmus Hoygaard – and many travelers, who is this year’s secret weapon?
Sean: It is forced to be Cameron Young, New Yawka hometown that happens to play the best golf of his life. He could easily be paired with the human lightning rod that is Dechambeau and end up riding in that wave in a bunch of points.
Dyman: I will double in the young. He has been on fire and he plays well in this part of the country. I also found his presentation at the opening ceremony especially moving; I suspect a tours of soft words like Young ever felt the crowd hug as it did when Captain Bradley introduced it as “New York”.
James: Based on what you have seen during the round days of practice and what do you know about these teams, who leaves this week with more points earned?
Sean: Tommy Fleetwood. To play the best golf of his life, is extremely paired with ANYONEAnd it is likely to play along with Rory Mcilroy. This is a recipe for 4.5 or more.
James: I think it should be Bryson. He is a “Golfer Gladiator”, as Xander Schauffe said another day, and this is the best environment he will have played since his transition to a content megastar.
Dyman: I assume that we are all simply passing over Scottie Scheffler because he is the choice of foam, right? However, Gimme cam Young to go 4-0-0. He looks calm with himself and his place in this team in a way I have never seen before.
James: Give me a brief answer here: which pairing from both sides do you want to see more?
I’ll start: Justin Thomas and Bryson Dechambeau have played in practical rounds together, and I think they would be a ready-made match. They are different players, but they are both high -power, high -intensity boys, and JT has shown that he can match Bryson’s Showman showman.
Sean: This is not a sex choice at all, but I like to think of myself as an analytical mind, and I just think that Sam Burns and Collin Morikawa can be a perfect match for work. They won an important match in Rome that has been meaninglessly forgotten. Morikawa needs good juji to inject into his game before 2026. Burns needs a comeback to repair his swinging reputation of the Ryder Cup, which he doesn’t even deserve! So close those guys for three games together and make me feel good as a prognostic.
Dyman: I will give you one side: For Euro, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton make a fun pairing, but also particularly unstable; Are we receiving the club shooting? Laughs manic? Birries bacon-and-veza all the way ‘? On the American side, the novice pairing of Ben Griffin and (once again) Cameron Young, which could both come really alive in this environment. (Also, until the view of the Sean-If Sam Burns will make some big-time shocks like that in Montreal last year, it can be a major factor.)
James: OK-and now the all-important conclusor. What is the end result, and who wins?
Sean: Europe makes everyone very nervous by calming the crowd on Friday and Saturday, leading 9-7 entering Sunday, but Americans gather for a 15-13 victory and Bethpage has been mined as a fantastic, iconic Ryder Cup place. Keegan Bradley then secretly tells every player in his team that he will catch them again in Adare Manor.
alacrity: Catching them again – and playing alongside them as well. I have Got Team USA, 15.5-12.5, but it will not feel safe until Russell Henley’s statement win on Sunday afternoon.
Colgan: 14-14. Europe stores the cup.
