When the PGA of America the priced prices of tickets last fall for 2025 Ryder Cup In Bethpage Black, the figures attracted a collective receipt from golf fans – or at least golf fans on social media. The one-day gate crossings for the matches were a $ 750 prince (with food and drink included), which represented a 400 percent note from the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome.
The practice rounds were also steep: $ 255 for Tuesday and Wednesday, and $ 424 for Thursday, which comes with some extra things in the form of Junior Ryder Cup game, a Celeb match and pumps and opening ceremonies.
Tickets for all rounds sold in 48 hours, suggesting that the US PGA had appropriately appreciated them, at least in terms of reading market demand.
But with the Ryder Cup week now on us, is the same request there?
For answers, we turn to the secondary market, where inflation or deflation of ticket prices is an excellent indicator of the popularity of an event. (See: Swift, Taylor.) On Monday morning, a compilation of lists posted by three main ticket sellers – stubhub, live places and gametes – found that the demand for the days of the match has remained high.
When making ticket purchases as a pair, the average ticket price on all three sellers was $ 1,308 for Friday’s sessions, $ 1,107 for Saturday and $ 798 for Sunday bachelors’ matches. All those rates are north of the original price required, though on Sunday it is only $ 48. And don’t be surprised if prices begin to crawl down while the week progresses, especially if a team opens a significant lead on Friday or Saturday.
However, the norms of the practice of practice tell a different story.
Seeing only Stubhub, which currently has the lowest prices for the day of practice, you can make a Tuesday ticket – again, if you buy them in pairs – as little as $ 83 and a ticket Wednesday for $ 117. Thursday’s prices have also fallen to $ 112. (Seat Geek, who is the official supplier of tickets for the PGA of America, did not show the list of below the value of the face.) These rates represent notes of 65%, 50%and 74%respectively.
The moral of the story? Fans of the New York area are brave to watch the stars of Ryder Cup hit – but only if the shots are counted for something.
