Ryan Garcia posted a clip of Devin Haney’s father and manager, Bill Haney, on social media saying that Devin was “coming to kill him” before their April 20 fight. Garcia says that Bill’s “killing” comment leaves him no choice but to sue.
It’s unclear if Bill was serious when he mentioned that Devin was coming to “kill” Ryan, but he looked dead serious with his expression.
“Devin is not going to box you, Ryan Garcia. He’s coming to kill you,” Bill Haney says in a video clip Ryan Garcia posted on X today, leading him to say he has no choice but to sue him over this.
There was no hint of a smile on Bill’s face, and he didn’t seem to be acting theatrically to create false hype. Daddy Haney looked wolfish as if Ryan had done Devin wrong, and he would pay the ultimate price. If Bill was just joking, he didn’t show it.
That would be counter-filed by Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), who is suing Haney and Bill for these reasons:
- Battery: Ryan testing positive for the PED, Ostarine, means that the fight was not fought under fair conditions. Garcia got extra help using the performance-enhancing drug, which was not previously known to Devin and Bill Haney.
- Fraud: Devin assumed Ryan would be drug free for the fight, and of course he wasn’t after testing positive.
- Unjust enrichment: Haney believes Garcia unfairly cashed out of the fight because he was not clean of drugs.

I asked you Bill to stop the fight
You let the battery last
You wanted this beating

Hopefully, Haney and Ryan can resolve their feud without going to court over this, as it would ruin a potential reunion if the two end up bitter over their legal problems.
