Ryan Garcia targets Devin Haney 147 Rematch

Ryan posted repeatedly on X Thursday night about a second fight with Haney. He pushed it hard, sharing a “Garcia vs Haney 2” graphic and writing in blunt terms.

“Haney, if it’s time to end you, it’s time,” Garcia posted. “You will be wiped out… Mark my words you will never fight again after this… War has been declared.”

Haney responded with a different type of message.

“Let’s start our VADA test so we can make the biggest fight in boxing!”

That line is the point. Haney puts the ground rules first. Weight. Test. No gray areas. After what happened the first time, he wants structure before spectacle.

Their 2024 fight never produced a clean finish. Garcia won by majority decision but missed weight, which meant Haney retained his WBC title. Then came failed drug tests and legal lapses, and the argument moved beyond the scorecards.

That history explains why the rematch discussion returns to the same issues: contracted weight and testing. A welterweight association with VADA in place removes the old dispute.

The timing is striking. Kingry recently expressed interest in fighting Shakur Stevenson, another matchup with its own appeal. Stevenson’s name was absent from Thursday’s posts. Haney’s was not.

Everything Garcia has posted points to the same goal: he wants Haney next.

There are still obstacles. Haney has a lawsuit related to the first fight. The agreement will need firm language about weight, testing and money. None of that is minor. Still, Garcia’s tone indicates that is the priority.

If they finalize it, welterweight gets the version of Garcia-Haney that should have happened the first time.

Ryan sounds confident he can end the rivalry. If he really wants it next, agreeing to the same weight and testing provisions that Haney is demanding is the only way to make that demand stand.
