Ryan Garcia says he doesn’t think former united middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin deserves to vote in the Boxing Hall of Fame for what he achieved during his 16-year-old pro career.
Questioned GGG’s greatness
Garcia mentions that Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 COs) did not beat ‘big’ fighters during his career. This is true if you ignore his controversial 12-draw against Canelo in their first fight in 2017. Gennadiy tried to fight against Alvarez who was at the age of 32, and had to wait until 35 before the Mexican star first fought him on September 16, 2017.
GGG made 20 consecutive title defense of its various belts from 2010 to 2018, which bound a record held by Bernard Hopkins. It was impressive.

The Hall of Fame debate
“For one, GGG never had a big win. Who did he beat? ‘ says Ryan Garcia to the InsidingHowWho is questioning whether Gennadiy Golovkin belongs in the Boxing Hall of Fame. “The one thing I can give him is that he has long been one of the superstars in boxing.
Ryan doesn’t say who he thinks Golovkin should beat to be worthy of Hall of Fame. Many of the fans who first fought for the first time on September 16, 2017 on September 16, 2017 for the first time against Canelo Alvarez apparently earned a win in that battle. Many also felt that Golovkin should have won the second competition as well, because he flew into the stretch after the Mexican star disappeared.

Canelo, Crawford and comparisons
You may argue that Golovkin of quality has a similar resume to Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. Both of these fighters are destined for the Hall of Fame. They won many battles, but against older, lesser opponents. None of them beat better fighters than the guys who defeated GGG.
