Ryan Garcia took to social media today and said: “Case Dismissed,” thanking his attorney, Michael Goldstein, but not saying for what cause. If it’s for the Devin Haney case, it had a quick end, but when you can afford a top-tier attorney like Ryan, that’s how it goes.
Fans assume Kingry is referring to the lawsuit Haney recently filed against him for their fight last April, but it’s unclear if that’s the one.
Ryan immediately followed that post with a question to his followers, asking them if they wanted him to beat Haney again, and they replied in the affirmative.
Given Bill Haney’s upbeat attitude and request that Garcia submit to drug testing within 48 hours for a rematch with Devin (31-0, 15 KOs) to happen next, it could be considered a softening on his part to have a expensive legal action to follow.
It would have been costly, and it could have jeopardized Haney’s chances for a lucrative rematch against Ryan in 2025. A rematch is Haney’s best way to make millions and get back to where he was before his loss to Ryan earlier this year.
If Haney wins in a competitive match, we could see a trilogy if it brings in a lot of PPV buys. Considering how much attention their fight generated afterward, it’s predictable that their rematch will bring in massive PPV buys, perhaps even more than Ryan’s fight against Gervonta Davis in 2023.
Bill Haney will have to step up his game to generate interest, as Ryan can’t single-handedly drive the promotion for the rematch, and Devin obviously won’t be much help. He’s better off not talking.
MATTER AWAY
Thank you Michael Goldstein
