Ruud van Nistelrooy is an injury concern for Man United ahead of the clash with Chelsea

Manchester United prepare to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday and interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of their second game.

The Red Devils managed to win their first game under the Dutch caretaker manager 5-2 against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.

It was a stunning performance from the Premier League giants who looked like a completely different team under Van Nistelrooy compared to former manager Erik ten Hag.

The big game against Chelsea will be a great test of Man United’s determination in their early life without Ten Hag.

Although Ruben Amorim has been confirmed as the club’s new manager, Van Nistelrooy will be hoping to make his mark on the job.

However, the Dutch manager is concerned about the fitness of one of his players ahead of the game at Old Trafford.

Christian Eriksen is a doubt for the game against Chelsea and Van Nistelrooy’s comments showed he has little faith in the Denmark international being fit in time to face Enzo Maresca’s side.

Van Nistelrooy reported average club that the medical team are working hard to secure the Dane’s place in the matchday squad, although his availability remains uncertain.

He said:

“There are not many changes. We are still waiting and working hard to get Christian Eriksen into the squad. He is working hard to get it at the last minute. And other than that, there’s no news about players that will be available, other than yesterday.”

Christian Eriksen has been in fine form for Man United this season

With four goals and three assists this season, Eriksen has been an important part of Man United’s starting line-up in recent weeks.

Man United’s midfield will struggle without Eriksen’s creativity and experience.

The Danish midfielder faces an uncertain future at the club and could leave at the end of the season, but his performances in recent weeks have shown he could still perform at the highest level.

It all depends on Amorim now and whether he is willing to give Eriksen a chance to play forward.
