Ruud passes to the smallest size of the head in his yonex eson – tennis now

Casper Ruud is the latest top player who makes changes to his wardrobe. Former Bota No.2 has gone to a smaller size of the head in the hope that change will help him swing with a little more freedom in stronger courts.

“Not the biggest change,” Ruud confirmed in court after his victory over Reilly Opelka on Friday in Laver Cup, for tennis Channel. “Just a few adjustments: frame size, head sizes, balances, weights. You can make a lot of tweaking and things here and there. So it’s still the same frame, just a little with a smaller head size and was working well today.

Ruud, 26, and ranked No.12, said he had time to practice with the new specifications after losing his second round to this year’s US.

“I feel like I have a little more control over the shooting and can swing a little more, especially in strong courts and internal courts, faster,” he said. “I had a war in the last two years, where in a strong court of strong where I hesitate a lot and I don’t feel like I can swing free because I feel like the ball flies (outside) my little racquet, so it is time to try just a little change.”
