Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has decided he wants the club to do just that sign a goalkeeper to challenge Andre Onana for its place as number one.

Onana hasn’t had the most convincing start to life at Old Trafford, having been poor for much of the 2023/24 campaign after being brought in by Erik ten Hag, although he started this term slightly better.

In recent games, however, we’ve seen Onana struggle again, looking unconvincing for some of the goals Man Utd have conceded.

According to the Manchester Evening Newsthis seems to have convinced Amorim to bring in another goalkeeper who could perhaps give Onana something to think about in having to fight harder to keep his place.

Manchester United READY to pounce on the Barcelona star!

The Cameroon international lacks proper competition at the moment, and it could be smart business to shake things up a bit in that department, to see if he can spark a reaction from the player.

Who could Manchester United sign to put pressure on Andre Onana?

The Manchester Evening News report does not mention any specific names, but it could be that we are already seeing some names being considered by the Red Devils.

Sources have reported it Caught offside that United are standing by Arsenal to show interest Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

The 22-year-old Belgian may not be the biggest name, but he looks like a decent prospect who could initially serve to add depth to Amorim, while potentially becoming a replacement for Onana.

Onana shone at Ajax and Inter Milan in the past, but has found the Premier League a very different beast, so it remains to be seen how much more time he will be given.

Amorim has inherited this struggling MUFC squad made up largely of Ten Hag signings, so he will no doubt be keen to put his own stamp on the squad.
