Rory Mcilroy will “hit the driver anywhere” this week.

Filltown, without. – Nearly two months ago, at Arnold Palmer Invitational in Bay Hill, Rory Mcilroy was shaking with the top of his golf bag So he could find a 3-tree to give him an extra distance when the course took the driver out of his hands.
Quickly before nine weeks (a stretch that included a Dramatic masters win), and 3-Duri is no longer a burnt advantage for Mcilroy as he reads to take one of the shortest courses in this year’s PGA Tour.
Mcilroy is the protective champion in The Truist championship of this weekwhich is making a one -year -old break from Quail Hollow Club to give WISSAHICKON CLUB OF FILEDELPIA CRICKET Her debut PGA Tour. In only 7,119 yards, Cricket is the fourth shortest course on the tour this year, with a bunker and doglegs well placed to navigate.
This could be a problem for a player like Mcilroy, who made a high profile keys For the first three rounds in Bay Hill in Taylormade’s Qi35 Metalwoods, before making a Sunday exchange back to Last year’s Qi10 models. Since then, he has won two of his three individual beginnings, in the player championship and masters.
While the cricket may seem like a course that Mcilroy will decide to look for a longer 3-wood, he thinks the opposite is true.
“Yes, you can send it,” Mcilroy said. “Everydo bunker seems to be about 300 to 310 to be done, which is fortunately. There is a bunker at 9 (I 16 for members) which is 331, but it’s down 10, so it’s like 320 equivalent. This is the longest to try to overcome.
“Yes, it’s basically the open season.”
Mcilroy compared Cricket’s game, an AW Tillinghast design of 1922 restored by Keith Foster in 2014, to OAK Hill, which Andrew Green restored the PGA 2023 championship.
Mcilroy said he tried to play strategically in that PGA first two days before he realized it was not the right game plan.
“I just realized that these new renovated old school courses, like the strategy, is just a driver hitting everywhere and then I understand it from there,” he said, echoing Dechambeau’s approach during his winning week in 2020 US winged. “This is a kind of strategy of this country this week.”
While Mcilroy does not need a 300-Oborre-carried club this week, he said he would like to find one for some places that come this summer, but he does not want to change the high end of his bag every week to make it work.
“I’ve always been worried about introducing only one club for a certain week,” he said. “I like to get used to clubs. I know the characteristics of my 3rd. I’ve used it for more than a year. Then I know my 5-grass characteristics. I know that if anything, I will miss my 3 wood a little on the right, and if anything, I will miss my 5-land slightly to the left.
“Clubo Club has its own personality, and I think it takes time to learn which personality is. So I’m very fond of changing a lot.”
While the country’s country for PGA Championship next week, Quail Hollow, where Mcilroy has won four times, is a different golf course for the Philly Cricket, Mcilroy’s strategy is likely to be the same: Bombs away.
