The WBA has now officially increased Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero from ‘ordinary’ to full welterweight champion to Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, which evacuates its title from 147 pounds to move to 154.
It is not a surprise that Rolly (17-2, 13 COs). The move is expected to occur as soon as Ennis revealed that he was moving to the junior middleweight. The hardcore fans will care more about the news that Romero will be elevated to the full WBA champion than the casuals. This is not a big deal. Ennis was forced to move on because he struggled to gain weight.
There is no real difference between Romero that is regularly to full champion. The same battles are available to him, and he is still considered one of two lesser champions at 147. He always said he wants these two fighters:
- Manny Pacquiao
- Ryan Garcia
Rolly is not going to change his mind now that he has been elevated to the full WBA champion. He focused more on money rather than fighting the best. Fans would like to see Romero fight against WBO champion Brian Norman Jr. He is unlikely to ever do it because he is too good.
Romero does not match the label ‘Paper champion’ Completely, but he is very close. He is only a champion in name. The way he won the usual WBA belt was not against a good opponent to make him a real champion. He is what a ‘E -post champion.’
Rolly won the WBA ‘ordinary’ title of 147 pounds by beating Ryan Garcia, who has never fought at Welterweight. The lack of victory against a warrior from the weight hurts Rolando’s credibility
Some fans believe that Ryan is kicking himself because he lost to Romero, because he would now elevate to the full WBA champion at 147. That would mean more respect. Garcia has already said that belts are not important to him. He just wants to take the best fights.
