In the opening round of the match, both fighters went through the feeling-out process by trying to establish the sting. In the second round, Romero landed a double left hook that Garcia sent to the canvas.

Ryan Garcia could get up, and when he got up, Romero was on the attack, but Garcia could survive the round. In the third and fourth rounds, Romero remained aggressive as he used Feints and threw the stitch to the body.

Garcia could end up a decent left hook in the 5th round, but he couldn’t land the shot as clean as he wanted. Rolly Romero was very aware of Garcia’s deadly left hook and he promised to take it away by constantly placing his right glove on his face.

Romero’s offensive activity helped him with regard to bank funds and his lead on the scorecards. Garcia was finally able to come alive in the eighth round when he had success in working from the stitch.

For the next few rounds, Romero was able to hold the match at a moderate pace as he continued to get the stitch, shots to the body and the upper right. After the 10th round, Garcia coach Derrick James gave Garcia a passionate motivational speech.

Unfortunately, Garcia did not respond to the speech. Instead of showing a sense of urgency by going out everything, Garcia chose to pose a lot and throw one shot at a time. After the 12-round competition, Rolly Romero won with unanimous decision.

Ryan Garcia is a talented fighter, but if you can take away his signature -Linker hook, he is limited to offense. He also has the habit of just randomly throwing the left hook as opposed to setting his money shot.

Rolly Romero (17-2, 13 COs) remained disciplined, performed his game plan and put a surprising dismay. With the win, Romero won the WBA (ordinary) Welterweight title.
