Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero named Shakur Stevenson as the most “Infringement” Fighter in box this week and talks about his flawed resume.
When he was questioned by Mike Coppinger, Rolly gave one reason why he considered “overestimate” WBC lightweight champion Shakur (23-0, 11 COs). His focus was just on his record.
Making Shakur?
Romero points out that the match -promoted Stevenson’s only significant victory during his eight -year career against Oscar Valdez, which in 2018 had a broken jaw against Scott Quigg. The view that has a lot about Valdez is that he has not looked the same since that fight.
Shakur’s resume
– Edwin de Los Santos
– Jamel herring
– Robson Conceicao
– Artem Harutyunyan
“I can tell you that you dominated quickly. Shakur, ‘Rolando’ Rolly ‘Romero said Ring magazine When asked who he thinks is the most “overestimated” fighter in boxing. “Can anyone in the public call another opponent other than Oscar Valdez, who broke his jaw in 2018 (by Scott Quigg), who is not a puncher. He can crack, but he is not a puncher. Listically, he’s a counter-puncher, so Shakur goes him, regardless.
“You tell me another fighter who beat Shakur. Any casual fighter can’t tell me, ‘says Rolly, exposing the Stevenson hype.
The hype -blue print
It is quite clear that since Shakur moved up to 135 in 2023, he was practiced around the dangerous contenders who could possibly beat him. Stevenson is believed to be protected to keep him unbeaten long enough to get the huge pay day fight against Gervonta Davis. This is a simple strategy.
How to create a hype -work For money purposes: Get an Olympic player, fit him against a poor opposition and then insist on a big money fight against a fighter over his wage degree. Shakur fought in the 2016 Olympics and was destroyed by Cuba Robeisy Ramirez.
So, the talented contenders such as Andy Cruz, Raymond Muratalla, Abdullah Mason and Jadier Herrera will be avoided by Stevenson’s promoters, so they can help hold his WBC 135-pound belt long enough to hit the jackpot with the Tank Davis battle.
Of the top fighters at 135, Stevenson is far below many of the fighters in the weight class. His inadequacy was disguised by the accurate matchmaking done by his promoters to hide his defects and prevent him from losing all the time.
The top lightweights are ranked
- Gevonta Davis
- Andy cruz
- Raymond Muratalla
- Abdullah Mason
- Keyshawn Davis
- Herrera Cores
- Lamont Roach
- Shakur Stevenson
- Jose Velazquez
- Floyd Schofield
Shakur could possibly have a $ 10 million payday fight tank. Obviously, with that kind of money just over the horizon, Shakur is not about to fight and be exposed to someone well. He had a close call against Edwin de Los Santos, and that fight showed how limited Stevenson is.
After the fight, Top Rank matched him against Artem Harutyunyan in his final battle under his contract. In Stevenson’s One Fight since signing with Eddie Hearn’s match room, he fought Josh Padley, an electrician from the United Kingdom.
Stevenson’s next fight is scheduled for July 12 in New York against William Zepeda. He comes from back-to-back decisions about Tevin Farmer. So it explains why Shakur is so eager to fight against him.
