Former Indian National Cricket Team player Aakash Chopra hit out at the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after he failed in the Adelaide Test match against the Australian National Cricket Team.
Aakash Chopra felt that batting failure was the main reason behind the Indian National Cricket Team’s humiliating 10-wicket defeat in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025.
Indians failed in Adelaide Test
In the pink-ball test match against Australia, the visiting team’s batting looked miserable. In the first innings, the Rohit Sharma-led side were bowled out for 180 runs in 44.1 overs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy top scored with 42 runs followed by KL Rahul and Shubman Gill with 37 and 31 runs respectively.
In the second innings, the Indian batsmen fared even more poorly and the team struggled for 175 runs, setting a target of 19 runs for the hosts.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was the next top scorer with 42 runs in the bag while Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill chipped in with 28 runs each.

Speaking in a video shared on his official YouTube channel after the 10-wicket loss to the Indian team in the Adelaide Test, Aakash Chopra hit out for not even playing 50 balls in the second innings. He elaborated:

“There was some help in the first innings. If you’re not going to bowl 80 overs over two innings in a Test match, that’s the problem. There’s no one in the team who said they’re going to play 80-100. No player bowled 50 balls, but nobody bowled 50 balls.

Aakash Chopra further said that the batsmen’s inability to play longer innings cost the Indian team the match. He added that the team’s “weaknesses in batting” were once again exposed by the Aussie bowlers and things looked bleak for India.
