Indian National Cricket Team captains Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav relive the epic victory over the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav shared their memories of the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 match, which is regarded as one of the most exciting matches in the history of T20I cricket.
Virat Kohli Played One Of The Greatest Knocks In Cricket History Against Pakistan
India decided to bat first in the high-octane T20 World Cup 2022 match against Pakistan on October 23, restricting them to a respectable total of 159/8.
India got off to a disastrous start when it came to the run chase. They lost KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav in the powerplay and to make matters worse, Axar Patel was run out on the first ball of the 7th over.
From there, it looked like Pakistan would easily crush India and register their second consecutive victory over the arch-rivals in T20 World Cup history. But Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya had different plans.
They showed great composure and slowly started building the innings. They did not fight with aggressive intent and were mainly focused on preventing any gate fall. Kohli and Hardik put on a sensational partnership of 113 before the all-rounder was dismissed.
And Virat Kohli remained unbeaten in the middle, smoking the Pakistani pacers all over the park and hitting Haris Rauf for a six over the head in cricket history. The modern-day great made sure to get the job done and guided India to an epic 4-wicket victory. He remained unbeaten on 82 runs from 53 balls.
Win predictor showed only 2-3 percent – Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma recall their win against Pakistan in T20 World Cup
In a video shared by ICC, Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav said that the partnership between Kohli and Hardik changed everything as the win predictor indicated that Pakistan would win the match easily. Suryakumar Yadav said:
“I was sitting in the dugout when we were down by four. (I) saw the screen and the win predictor was showing just 2-3 per cent and then Virat and Hardik put that partnership together which was a really good partnership there. That changed everything.
“We can’t say we were very confident we were going to win that game, but we definitely got back into the race.”
Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, said that he did not watch the match live because he was a completely nervous person, but went out to watch the final to enjoy the moment of victory.
“There’s 90,000 people in the stadium. We had a bit of trouble with our bat. We lost a couple of wickets early. I’m a very nervous person. I was sitting in the dressing room, I wasn’t watching live because it was obvious. I was very tense during the last game, but I came out and I enjoyed that moment,” Rohit Sharma recalled.
23.10.2022. A game like no other – Hardik Pandya
All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who played a key role in the crucial victory, also recalled the victory over Pakistan via Instagram.
In a story shared on his official Instagram account, Hardik Pandya said that the match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground will stay with him forever.
“23.10.2022. A game like no other and one that will stay with me forever. Nothing makes me happier than playing for my country.”
