Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal said to bat in the middle order after Perth Test heroics

Former Indian National Cricket Team player Dodda Ganesh has made an offer for head coach Gautam Gambhir. He urged the team management to continue opening with Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 despite Rohit Sharma’s return for the next game.

Dodda Ganesh’s comments came in the wake of incredible performances by KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings of the ongoing first Test against the Australian National Cricket Team. The match between the two teams takes place at Optus Stadium in Perth.

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal put on a superb effort with the bat in the second innings.

Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal put in a superb effort with the bat in the second innings after failing to score in the first innings. Their partnership with the bat was undoubtedly one of the best by Indians in an overseas test match.

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal showed great discipline against the new ball and looked very solid in defence. They also made sure to capitalize on scoring opportunities and put the bowlers of the Australian National Cricket Team under a lot of pressure.

KL Rahul and Jaiswal dominated with the bat all day and frustrated the Australian bowlers. They took the shine of the new ball very well and made sure they didn’t waste their hard work as they battled hard against the new ball.

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 172 runs for the opening wicket

Both batsmen hit vital half-centuries and added 172 runs for the opening wicket. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 90 runs from 193 balls. The opening batsman also hit 7 fours and 2 sixes in his innings and would look to double his effort on Day 3.

And Rahul was batting unbeaten on 62 off 153 balls with the help of 4 boundaries. The duo added an unbeaten 172-run partnership that saw the Jasprit Bumrah-led side lead by 218 runs. They would hope to set as big a target as possible and win the first game.

If Rahul and Jaiswal put up such a terrible effort with the bat in the opener and Rohit Sharma returns for the next game, it will be a huge headache for coach Gautam Gambhir. Skipper Rohit will open the innings and there are chances of Rahul returning to the middle order.

Allow KL Rahul to open throughout the tour – Dodda Ganesh calls for Rohit Sharma’s removal

But Dodda Ganesh is not happy with the reviews. He backed Rahul to open the innings throughout the series and argued that Rohit Sharma should bat in the middle order. He made a statement on his Twitter account:

“Just let KL Rahul open throughout the tour. For God’s sake don’t mess up his place again. He is the best bet to handle the conditions with the new ball. Rohit can bat in the middle order.”

Dodda Ganesh feels that Rohit Sharma should bat in the middle and the opening partnership of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal should remain. He said:

“This opening partnership should remain and Rohit will have to bat in the middle order. Hopefully common sense will prevail
