“With one or two performances, if you’re questioning somebody’s captaincy, I mean you wouldn’t have asked me that question just six months ago when he won the T20 World Cup. Knowing his ability and talent, you wouldn’t have asked that question. They’ll be back.”

I think it’s too early to talk about this – Kapil Dev on Jasprit Bumrah as captain

Kapil Dev also dismissed the idea that Jasprit Bumrah is all set to take over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma. He said that such a decision cannot be taken after Rohit’s several failures. Kapil Dev said:

“I think it’s too early to talk about it. You can’t say he’s the best with one performance, and he doesn’t deserve it with one bad performance.

“Let a player play a lot of cricket, take a lot of captaincy. He will have ups and downs, and then you judge a man by his reaction in bad times, not in good times. We don’t do that in good times. He has to judge after he is down…”
