The second edition of the tournament was originally planned to be held in Sri Lanka in June last year. However, the event was postponed following an appeal by Sri Lanka Cricket due to persistent inclement weather and public health concerns following the outbreak of chikungunya in the country. The decision to host the tournament in Bangkok provided a fresh start, with Thailand emerging as a reliable host for regional and age-group competitions in recent years.
