A recent report in TOI broke the internet as it suggested that Delhi Capitals management has decided to remove Rishabh Pant from the captaincy.
It is learned that the star wicketkeeper-batsman recently met Delhi Capitals co-owners Parth Jindal and Kiran Kumar Grandhi, where his future with the franchise was discussed.
The source said that the DC management felt Pant was better off without the burden of captaincy and had started the search for a new captain with Axar Patel, Pant’s deputy at DC. .
Notably, the source said that Pant will be the first retention of Delhi Capitals ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction and Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav could be the second and third retentions.

Notably, Rishabh Pant was named captain of Delhi Capitals ahead of Indian Premier League 2021 when Shreyas Iyer was injured before the tournament. Although Iyer returned for the second half of the league, Pant was retained as captain by the franchise with Iyer released ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.
