Speaking to Ravi Shastri, Rishabh Pant claimed to be positive and high on confidence while playing at the Gabba. He also revealed that he plays positively according to a certain situation.

Pant told Shastri, “It’s amazing, (The Gabba) I had a positive feeling going in. It gives you a positive attitude and confidence in the series where everything is level, it makes you want to do well.

“Playing in the situation has been a learning experience for me, it’s saved the team from a tough situation. Sometimes it’s hard, a lot of times I have to keep telling myself to think positive,” he said.

Pant batted when India last faced Australia at the Gabba during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21. He scored an unbeaten 89 off 138 balls in the second innings of the match and led India to a famous victory. Pant was adjudged Man of the Match for his historic performance.

The star goalkeeper then mentioned the reason for playing attacking shots even when the situation is delicate. Pant revealed that he backs himself to play such innings and relies on playing percentage cricket.

“There are easier ways to do it, but I put my foot down and keep doing the same thing that has brought me so much success,” Pant said.

“Normally I don’t practice that kind of (extraordinary sweep and scoop) shots, that’s the game plan in the bowlers’ mind because it’s not always easy to just defend the ball. My mind tells me it’s safer, I always play at cricket percentage,” he added.

Rishabh Pant is yet to score a big one in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy but is still one of the most important players for India in Test cricket. The left-hander has an excellent Test record which has made him such a dominant player for India in this format.
