Ricky Pontingis reportedly on the verge of signing a contract with the legendary former Australian captain Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Although there is no official confirmation from either side, that’s why Cricbuzz Ponting is in advanced discussions with the franchise and is expected to finalize the deal soon.
Ricky Ponting’s previous IPL experience
He was Ponting’s head coach Delhi Capitals (DC) parted ways with the team earlier this year after seven seasons. He took over the coaching reins of the franchise in 2018 and led the team to a series of impressive performances. During his tenure, Delhi Capitals qualified for the Playoffs in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Notably, under Ponting’s leadership, Delhi reached their first IPL final in 2020.
Despite the initial success, the last few seasons have seen Delhi Capitals struggle to perform consistently, leading to Ponting’s exit earlier this year.
