Rickie Fowler’s Sunday in Colonial is about more than victory no. 7

You wouldn’t know it seeing its score page but Rickie Fowler is CLOSER This is his claim.
Since his victory in 2023 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Fowler has only a Top-10 finish in 40 starts. Fowler has been hunting several times this season, but has not been able to unite the four good rounds needed to show that the hard work he is getting in is being repaid. it was in quarrel in connoisseur But it faded Sunday. He played Golf yjor to open players Before defeated by TPC Sawgrass on the weekend. Two weeks ago at the Truist championship, Fowler asked the Philly Cricket Club in the opening round, but was stuck in neutral in the last three days to end up in a tie for the 15th.
Flashat have been there. A seven-round round here. An eight-zogy round there. But they are always followed by obstacles. This Rickie Fowler is still looking for that Rickie Fowler. But it’s right there. He feels it.
“Undoubtedly,” Fowler told players when asked how it felt compared to 10 years ago when he won the flag event. “As a player, I feel better than where I was then. I still learn a little at that point. Of course it was a great player, but I feel like I have a much better meaning, much more control and I’m a better player now than I was then.”
Fowler remains familiar with his fans, sponsors and peers. Subsequently Not getting a sponsor exception At Arnold Palmer Invitational (he got one at AT&T Pebble Beach pro-am and genesis invitation), Fowler took exceptions to RBC Heritage, Championship Truist and Championship PGA. Fowler has said he is aware of the speeches of the exceptions he received, especially the PGA champion. He understands the criticism given his results, but uses it as a fuel as he continues to beat the door again in himself.
“Negative things, I would say, one kind helps me somehow because it feeds me to go out and try the wrong people,” Fowler said in the Truist championship. “I feel like there was something in front of the 2015 players saying that I was the most overrated player, and that worked well that week.”
Fowler lost cutting in the PGA and then shot a premature round to open this week Charles Schwab Charles in Colonial Country Club.
But the 36-year-old came out on Friday and fired a six-nine 64 to climb the leader and placed himself within five leaders’ shocks with 36 holes Ben Griffin and Matti Schmid. Fowler supported him on Saturday with one three under 67 to reach nine under and close the gap in four shots. He will play in the final grouping with Griffin and Schmid, both are on 13 under.
Fowler will start on Sunday in the colonial in the position of the chassers. But he will also be the only one in that final triumvirate with winning experience. Griffin has a team win under his belt, but has not yet checked the individual box. Schmid has three endings of Top-10 in alternative field events this season. His best career conclusion came to the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda championship, where he ended.
Rickie Fowler has been heavy over the past two years. He will be the first to tell you that he has not played well this year or the last – certainly does not depend on his career standard. But he has not felt lost or as he was in the desert. It’s been there. This is the disappointing thing about golf. Reality is often not as it seems.
“It is difficult,” Fowler told Amanda Balionis of CBS after the third round of Saturday. “It’s a very good line here. You can be so close and look so far. With the level they all play here, this is what makes it look much worse than what it is. To continue and get the little positives here and there and give yourself something you may feel good and continue moving forward.”
The last time Fowler played in the last group on Sunday? Classic Mortgage with Rocket 2023.
“I’m waiting for him,” Fowler said. “I mean, I haven’t been far away for a long time. I’ve seen glances here and there for some really good golf. Very comfortable around this place. I’ve been around here a lot and really enjoy playing in Colonial. We look forward to following tomorrow.”
Sunday at Colonial Country Club will be a chance for Rickie Fowler, winner of six times PGA Tour, hit a last blow against this boulder and set all the pieces together-to go by close BY Finally there.
For Rickie Fowler, Sunday at Charles Schwab Challenge is a chance to light all those disappointments away and become THAT Rickie Fowler once again.
