Rickie Fowler says he wants this part of Lexi Thompson’s game

Lexi and Rickie, two of the most popular faces in the modern game, joined me for a spoonful of cookie dough and chocolate ice cream (respectively) in Florida to discuss all things Golf. From what these two have done for the popularity of the game to the Rickie’s Walker Cup iconic teams and the lex dance in the Poppie Basin, we covered a LOT of land during the interview.

Lexi and Rickie have known each other for over 15 years thanks to their partnerships with Puma, so I was excited to ask them about each other’s game. I mean, they have clearly seen many of them, especially as partners at Grant Thornton Invitational! So it was not surprising that they had high praise for each other when they were asked which part of the other’s game they wanted to have.

“I like to watch his game because it looks so cheap and so easy,” Lexi said. “It doesn’t seem like he is overthrowing nothing, it’s just a kind of raw natural talent. Whenever I look at him, I feel like he just gets up with him and hits him. He visualizes the goal he wants to hit and just goes for him. And I never see really upset there. It is just good to see his game.”

Rickie echoes similar praise for his Puma athlete.

“I feel like she’s there and it’s fearless,” he said. “She just wants to go to do it. Of course, she has won many times and there are times when she doesn’t work, and she, forgive my French, but she works it – I think some of her work ethics is something I would probably benefit from.”

You have people there. If the best in the world can learn from each other’s games, you and I can definitely.

Being able to see the good as Rickie and Lexi compete together is what makes Grant Thornton such a special event, and knowing how respecting one another makes this perfect golf pairing.
