The Major League Baseball offseason is heating up as this year’s free agent class is stacked with talent.
With big-name players including Juan Soto, Corbin Burns, Alex Bregman, Max Fried and Rocky Sasaki still unsigned, there’s plenty of excitement left.
While much of the focus revolves around Soto and the other star players, the longtime starting pitcher could return for another season in 2025.
Rich Hill talked about his future in baseball and what he would like to do.
“I definitely want to play next year and I’ve proven that ability is there,” Hill said.

Hill entered the league in 2005 with the Chicago Cubs and played 20 MLB seasons with 13 different MLB organizations.
In 2024, Hill played for the Boston Red Sox, but appeared in only four games with an 0-1 record with a 4.91 ERA and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings.
Hill says his pitching ability is still there, and he proved it during the Premier 12 tournament, where he pitched 10.1 innings without giving up an earned run while striking out 14.
The 44-year-old pitcher doesn’t have the speed to keep up with MLB hitters, so he has to rely on his location and mix up his pitches to keep hitters off balance.
While most teams will look at free agents, Hill could provide the team with some veteran presence while still being able to perform at the highest level.
Hill will be a player to watch heading into the 2025 season to see if the team takes a chance on the 20-year veteran.
