Real Madrid are said to be monitoring Valencia’s Yarek Gasiorowski in their search for a new centre-back.
The European and Spanish champions were hoping to strengthen their defense in the summer, with Leny Yoro as their main target. However, they were reluctant to meet Lille’s demands and the teenage sensation ended up signing for Manchester United.
The lack of depth in Madrid’s central defense has already been evident this season, with right-back Dani Carvajal having to come in to make up for their lack of cover.
AS report that Los Blancos are back in the market for a centre-back, and a player of particular interest is 19-year-old Yarek.
His Valencia contract contains a €45 million buyout clause, but that figure will increase when he reaches 20 first-team appearances, currently 19.
If Madrid go through with Yarek, they are likely to have to negotiate with Valencia, as they are reluctant to pay a large sum upfront. However, the two clubs are not on good terms, which is best shown by the fact that they haven’t done it directly transfer business since 2009 when Raul Albiol changed the Mestalla for the Santiago Bernabéu.
Yarek is also wanted by Atlético, Inter and Red Bull Salzburg. while Madrid appreciate his profile as a higher advocate, they will only strengthen their interest if it fits their “strategic” needs.
For example, manager Carlo Ancelotti asked Madrid to chase Harry Kane in 2023 ahead of his move to Bayern Munich. The board rejected his request as they were already planning the arrival of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer a year later.
