Raphinha has admitted that the chaos surrounding Dani Olmo’s La Liga signing could be prospective signings Think twice about joining Barcelona this year.
Barcelona signed Olmo for nearly 60 million euros last summer, but could only sign him temporarily thanks to Andreas Christensen’s injury. That record expired on December 31 and the Blaugrana did not get an extension before the deadline.
The League has reiterated the sentence that the players cannot award a second registration for the same club in a single season, leaving Barcelona forced to make a last desperate fight to the Spanish government to try to secure another license for Olmo, who can terminate his contract and leave on a free transfer if he is not registered, and young striker Pau Victor, who is in the same dilemma.
“It’s a very complicated situation,” Raphinha told the media. “We never want to go through these moments, they are complicated for us and for them, who don’t know if they will play or not.
“We’re trying to make it not that difficult for them. We hope the officials can sort it out as soon as possible so they can play us again.
“We have to hope that this is resolved quickly. We have to wait. The truth is, we know the same as you. We’ve been trying to stay focused to do our jobs. I hope that the people who have to resolve this can do- and give us good news quickly.”
Asked if the uncertainty surrounding Olmo and Víctor could affect other players, Raphinha confessed: “Yes, I can’t say no. I would lie and I don’t like to lie.
“If I was at another club and I was living the situation of Pau and Dani, I might think if it would be better to be here. When I arrived here, I knew the situation of the club.”
It has been reported that Olmo could leave Barcelona on loan this monthwhile there have also been claims of a one-off deal which would see Olmo leave the club on a free transfer and rejoin in the summer after six months elsewhere.
