Arsenal reporter Charles Watts has responded to recent stories about AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who looks like he could realistically earn himself a big move soon.

Speaking exclusively to Caught offside for the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column, Watts admitted he had yet to have anything confirmed about Arsenal’s pursuit of Reijnders, although he spoke of the Netherlands international as one to watch .

Arsenal ‘to hold talks’ over signing striker SOON!

Watts noted that numerous other top-flight clubs have also been linked with Reijndersso it may not be so easy for Arsenal to win the race for his signature, even if their interest turns out to be genuine.

Overall, though, Watts says he expects it to be fairly quiet at the Emirates Stadium this January, so Arsenal fans might do well not to get their hopes up about Reijnders and other big names.

Tijjani Reijnders he’s a player who seems to be constantly in the headlines at the moment, with clubs all over Europe linked with him,” said Watts.

“Manchester City, Spurs, Barcelona, Real Madrid are all said to be looking at the AC Milan star, and now I’ve also seen Arsenal linked.

“It’s not something I’ve heard of myself and the speculation doesn’t seem to come from outlets of much substance when it comes to Arsenal matters, so I’m a bit skeptical about it.

“But of course he’s doing really good things for Milan and he’s a quality player, so hopefully some of the top clubs in Europe will be keeping an eye on him before the January window.”

He added: “I’m still not expecting much from Arsenal when it comes to January, but the message we’re getting is that the focus remains on the summer when it comes to any major business.

“Obviously that could change if an opportunity presents itself in January that is deemed too good to turn down, but we’ll have to wait and see if that happens.”
