PXG’s latest zero-torque inserter is built in one of its most unusual shapes.
The company is releasing the new Mustang ZT, pours with zero torque in what has become one of the hottest club categories in sports.
“With the Mustang ZT, we’re expanding the Zero Torque lineup to give players even more options that fit the way they play,” PXG founder and CEO Bob Parsons said in a release.
Continue reading below for more about the Mustang ZT kit, who it’s for, and my thoughts on the new design.
What is the PXG Mustang ZT?
The Mustang ZT is PXG’s fourth in their line of ZT machines, and is based on their Mustang II shape, which is one of the most unique shapes in their line of shooters.
Starting with an anser style blade, the Mustang has the corners clamped further from the center of the gauge to increase MOI. To give this toe-up cheater its zero-torque properties, PXG uses its patented “S” shaft to place the axle shaft directly above the propellant’s CG.
This design allows the club face to stay square throcarries any type of shock (pendulum or bow) and eliminates the need for a center pivot design.
PXG also uses a hollow body design infused with its proprietary S-COR polymer to further increase MOI by concentrating mass on the gauge arms.
To help the player’s hands stay in front of the clubhead during impact, the Mustang ZT is designed with 1 degree of integrated shaft.

Who is the Mustang ZT for?
If you’re looking to get into a low-torque machine model, but don’t like the typical center-shaft design or prefer to look at a high-MOI blade-style gauge, the Mustang ZT may be one of your few options.
While the Mustang ZT is not a traditional blade, it is one of the few high MOI blade style options in the low torque space that has been dominated by hammer shapes.
The Mustang ZT will also appeal to players who like a slightly firmer, ground feel and faster ball speed off the face, thanks to PXG’s ultra-thin face and pyramid grinding technology.
My thoughts
PXG’s thruster options have become very powerful over the past few years, and just over a year after introducing their first ZT option, they now have their fourth.
Within PXG’s range of ZT excavators, you can now choose between them a high hammer of the MIA, a wooden mallet in the style of wingsa wide body blade and a high MOI arm style blade.
It’s clear that PXG believes that their S-cabin can be applied to many different shapes that they already make, which will give players more options to find the best player for their games.
The Mustang ZT is a unique shape, but not one that will bother the modern gamer. A player who is increasingly willing to trade requires performance.
As someone who is very much in favor of blade and countershaft, I’m eager to try and get a gauge that matches the tighter shape I prefer and offers low torque characteristics without a centershaft.
