PXG adds the first ‘zero torque’ center shaft gear to its line


In a short span of time, PXG has put together one of the the strongest formations e low torque thruster and now they are adding a missing option.

PXG’s new Hot Rod ZT marks the company’s first low-torque option with a center shaft. Previously, all of the company’s “zero-torque” machines had an S-clutch, which places the shaft over the CG shaft, but then turns the hose at the heel.

“Every detail of the Hot Rod ZT was shaped around confidence, both visually and through impact,” said PXG design engineer Matt Andrews in a press release. “From the way the small hammer sets the ball to the sound and feel off the face, we focused on creating a putter that looks durable, feels durable and performs exactly as players expect when it matters most.”

What’s really new with the PXG Hot Rod ZT — and why you should care

The new Hot Rod ZT is now PXG’s largest and highest MOI ZT option.

The head is milled from 6061 aluminum and the lighter weight material allows mass to be precisely distributed within the head for maximum MOI.

Four interchangeable weights allow the weight to be pushed further to the perimeter, as well as hidden high density tungsten.

The face of the gauge features PXG’s proprietary pyramid face design, which has a diamond-shaped pattern with a sharp tip to reduce the actual ball contact area and soften feel, but still maintains the feedback players are used to from a milled face.

The newest technology for PXG is the center shaft design that goes straight through the center of gravity of the head to create the low torque effect. Like all other PXG ZT thrusters, this gauge will balance thumbs up. It also features three degrees of built-in spindle to position the hands back in front of the face, an optimal position.

What is it: An ultra-high-MOI, low-torque hammer gauge with a center-shaft configuration. Available in two alignment options with a full-length sightline or a short front-to-hill sightline.

Who is it for: Players who want an ultra high MOI hammer and are comfortable with a starting center shaft setup.

My take: PXG is all about low torque

The new Hot Rod ZT marks PXG’s fifth low-torque shape option in their ZT family of thrusters, creating one of the most comprehensive low-torque lines on the market.

WHEREAS PXG has released the traditional paws from their first low-torque shot, Allan, which was released at the end of 2024it seems clear that this is where the focus of their barrel design is going.

What’s really interesting is that this is the first time they’ve gone with a center-shaft option, instead going for their S-hose on their previous versions.

I think what it tells us is that hub axle options aren’t as taboo as they were when the low torque trend started. Golfers are willing to try center shaft models if they see the benefits, and PXG is betting that golfers will see those benefits with their ZT golfers.

Price, Specifications and Availability

PXG’s new Hot Rod ZT fairings are available starting February 12 IN PXG website.

Putter costs 449 dollars.

The prop is available to adjust for length and lie, while loft is fixed at 6Ëš and 3Ëš of built-in forward press. The weight of the head is 375 g, while the minimum is 345 g and the maximum is 415 g.
