Punjab Kings have finalized their place in the reserve list ahead of IPL Auction 2025. Dubbed the least successful team in the IPL, Punjab Kings submitted the final list of retained players to the BCCI on Thursday, October 31.
Notably, the BCCI had set a date of October 31 for all franchises to finalize the list of retained players for the IPL Auction 2025. As per the rules, each franchise can retain 6 players in their squad for IPL 2025.
Of these, there can be 5 or fewer closed players and 2 or less non-closed members. Also, a franchise has a total salary limit of Rs. 120 crore, out of which they can spend Rs. 75 million dollars for their maintenance.
Punjab Kings finished 9th in the points table last season
Punjab Kings finished 9th last season with another poor show. It should be noted that Punjab Kings have never made the playoffs since the 2014 season when they finished second.
Led by Shikhar Dhawan, PBKS won 5 matches and lost 9 out of 14 matches. Ranked 9th among 10 teams with 10 points. Thus, they are among the worst performances of the season.

Shashank Singh and Harshal Patel performed best for the team
Shashank Singh was a surprise pick for Punjab Kings last season but came up with an amazing performance. The right-handed batsman scored 354 runs in 14 games with an average of 44+ and a strike rate of 164+.
Next on the list is Prabhsiman Singh who scored 334 runs in 14 games. Among the bowlers, Harshal Patel took the most wickets with 24 wickets in 14 games for the team, followed by Arshdeep Singh with 19 scalps.
Interestingly, Harshal Patel was also the highest wicket-taker of the season and won the purple cap. But there was a stark difference between his show and the team’s performance.
As Punjab have failed to make the playoffs for many seasons in a row, they will make a lot of changes in their squad during the IPL Auction 2025. Below is a list of retained members for the party.
