PSL franchise owners target rejected stars of IPL for 2025 season

The next edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This is because the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played during the Pakistan-based League window and hence the tournament has been moved to the March-April window.

Franchise owners are in favor of having the players draft in London or Dubai for the PSL – sources PCB

It is also reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to hold the draft of players for the league either in London or Dubai. Reports claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was inspired by a plan to host the auction in a foreign country.

A source claimed: “Franchise owners are in favor of training players in either London or Dubai as they feel it will improve the league’s brand image.”

Last month, the IPL mega auction was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It was a huge success for BCCI as huge amount of money was spent in the league. In the auction, some big players were not sold and some young players were paid more than expected.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is reportedly looking for a window to host PSL 2025 from April 7 to May 20. The tournament will usually be played in the same window as the Indian Premier League and hence there is a possibility that both the tournaments will clash.
