After the initial test, Warner was taken into custody and taken to Maroubra Police Station. A second, more accurate breathalyzer was performed, which reportedly confirmed the earlier reading of 0.104.
The authorities then charged the veteran cricketer with drink-driving. He is scheduled to appear at Downing Center Local Court on May 7, 2026.

The development comes at a crucial time for Karachi Kings, who are competing in the 11th edition of the PSL. Warner leads the side and remains a key figure in their batting line-up. The left-handed batsman was given a brief break from the tournament to return to Australia for personal reasons during a gap in the PSL schedule. His absence coincided with a short break between games for Karachi Kings, whose last match was on April 2.
In that game, Warner put in a strong performance, scoring a half-century and guiding his team to a crucial victory over Rawalpindi. His form has been one of the positives for the franchise in an otherwise competitive season.
Warner is expected to rejoin the squad in Karachi on April 9 for the second leg of the tournament. However, the off-field controversy could be a distraction for both players and team management as they look to maintain momentum in the league.
