Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi says he “loves” Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah but reiterated there is no truth to rumors linking him with a transfer to the French giants.
Salah’s future at Anfield remains up in the air with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season. The Egyptian has 21 goals in the Premier League this term, six more than any other player, and has made it public he alluded to his frustration with the situation.
PSG was considered as a potential destination for Salah should he leave Liverpool, although Al-Khelaifi does close stories already suggesting he is interested in a move for the 32-year-old.
While attending the Club World Cup draw, PSGsaid the president GIVEMESPORT: “I love Salah, also because he came from our part of the world. I’m really proud of him, honestly, for what he’s done in the Premier League with Liverpool.
“And I have great respect for him and for Liverpool. So we never talked to him. Respect Liverpool and respect the player – he has a contract with Liverpool and we have never spoken to him.”
The Reds coach, Arne Slot, has already admitted that he is “hard to predict” whether Salah will stay on Merseyside beyond the current season. Liverpool are well placed in both the Premier League and Champions League but have other contract dilemmas with defensive stars Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also on deals that run out in the summer.
The club is said to have he fell short with his first proposal to the Dutch centralwhile Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, who have ruled out a January move as he is only interested in a free transfer.
