Hello friends and welcome to this week’s edition of the Rogers Report. This is one of my very favorite weeks of the year to cover golf because we have a team event this week. And with a team event comes my version of the Super Bowl: a golf gala! We will go over all of these very soon, but first I have a few more Presidents Cup articles I want to make sure you don’t miss.
To know Adam Scott is to know some things. The first is that he has a perfect golf swing. After that, we know that he is a member of TGL’s Boston Common team, that he is the 11th. Presidents Cup appearance this week AND that the boy loves the color beige. So I jokingly took to Twitter (sorry Elon, “X”) on Tuesday when I noticed that the entire international team was rocking beige just like their oldest member.
A few hours later, I received a DM from a journalist about the rationale and International team captain Mike Weir confirmed that the team had indeed worn beige to honor Adam Scott. I love it so much! What a fun way to pay some respect to their oldest friend.
Speaking of respect — that’s exactly what I have for Trevor Immelman, who presented the International Team Cup Presidents with custom Rolexes earlier this week. What a gift!
Trevor, if you have any extra hours you need to get rid of, my wrists are available.
A goldmine of content
Look, I understand if you can’t bring yourself to download the TikTok app. Here I can convey to you all the important things that I will do. But first, credit where credit is due. Layna Finau, Lacey Homa and Juju Chan (who is dating Sahith Theegala) are carrying plus-one content on their backs this week in Montreal. Instagram and Twitter may offer some refined content for you all, but these TikToks show you exactly what it’s like to be the girlfriend or wife on Team USA.
Finau, Homa and Chan took us behind the scenes on their daughters’ curling journey as well as their gala preparation. Do yourself a favor and check it all out below.
Okay, now we can officially start talking about the gala.
Presidents Cup Gala
Galas (well, at least the content that comes from them) are so much fun because when you think about it, they’re just the grown-up version of prom. And when you throw golf into the mix, it gets even better.
Tom Kim joking that he’s the only single one, Collin Morikawa making his way to the front of the photo because he’s short, and Xander Schauffele holding the girls’ bags while they take their pictures takes me right back to senior year of high school.
I also want to give a shout out to the international team for being what seem to be incredible boyfriends and husbands on Instagram.
It’s safe to say they take their side gigs as content grabbers very seriously.
Okay, on to the couples content, since that’s what you’re all here for anyway.
portraiture
We’ll start with golf’s first pair, who looked like they could be in for a campaign of sorts in the red, white and blue.
Max Homa may have posed for some professional photos, but he also had a lot of fun on the red carpet.
Check out what he’s doing in the background of this video.
Then we have the Morikawas. While Collin is representing the USA this week, his wife Kat is training for the New York City Marathon. Talk about an athletic couple!
Okay, I’ll let you enjoy the next set of images without my comment.
I want to give a shout out to Keegan Bradley for really nailing this “proud dad” attitude here. With content like that, I know he’ll be an excellent Ryder Cup captain in Bethpage.
The next photo I really like because Sam Burns reminds me of a lot of people I know: maybe checking the score of a game or just the old Twitter timeline in between moments of an event. I am definitely guilty of this.
Content on Instagram
Finally, I’ll leave you all with the gala posts I came across on Instagram.
I think my new favorite account is Presidents Cup Caddies. It is enough for my liking.
Okay, folks. That’s all for now. I’ll see you all soon to recap some more President’s Cup content.
